Privacy policy
The short version. WhoJoined keeps your attendance data on your own computer and never sends it anywhere. It has no accounts, no analytics and no ads. The only thing it ever sends is your license key, to our payment provider, if you buy WhoJoined Pro.
What WhoJoined is
WhoJoined is a Chrome extension that records attendance in Google Meet calls. This policy covers the extension and this website.
What the extension stores
While you are in a Google Meet call, WhoJoined reads the names of the people in the call from the Meet page and saves:
- the display names of the participants, as Meet shows them to you;
- when each person was first and last seen in the call, and for how long;
- the meeting's title and meeting code, and the time you joined;
- the class lists you type in, and your settings.
All of this is stored in your browser on your own computer, using Chrome's extension storage. It is not sent to us, and we have no way to see it. WhoJoined does not record audio, video, chat messages or captions.
What the extension sends
If you never buy WhoJoined Pro, the extension sends nothing at all.
If you enter a license key, the extension sends that key, together with a short label such as "Chrome on macOS", to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm the key is valid. It repeats this check about once a week. No attendance data is included.
Payments
Purchases of WhoJoined Pro are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details and handles tax under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. Lemon Squeezy shares with us the order information needed to provide your license and to help you if something goes wrong, such as your name, email address and order number.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking in the extension.
- We do not use your data for anything other than showing you your attendance records.
Permissions the extension asks for
- Storage: to save attendance records, class lists and settings in your browser.
- Access to meet.google.com: to read the names of participants while you are in a call.
- Access to api.lemonsqueezy.com: to check a license key you enter.
Your control over the data
You can delete any saved meeting from the WhoJoined window, and delete any class list from a report. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it stored. Because the data never leaves your computer, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Other people's information
Attendance records contain the names of the people you meet with. You decide how those records are used and shared, for example when you export a file. Please handle them in line with the rules that apply to you, such as your school's or employer's policies.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Like any website, the company that hosts it may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the service.
Chrome Web Store policy
WhoJoined's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If the way WhoJoined handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
